Must-watch Family Movies
One of the finest ways to spend quality time as a family is to cuddle up on the couch with your tiny ones, choose a fun movie, and a huge bowl of popcorn. However, picking a movie that everyone will enjoy is pretty difficult (here enters the sibling bickering). To ease the potential tension, here are eight (8) family films that are relatable to all age groups, many of which will bring back fond memories of your own youth. Prepare your food, turn out the lights, and relax as we binge-watch these family movies.
For the first round of their 20th anniversary celebration, Star Cinema really went all out with this remarkable movie. The cast has some of the most talented young actors of this generation, and they are surrounded by a complicated tale about relationships and family, as well as about growing up and letting go. Although it appeared to be a composite of the typical dysfunctional Pinoy family, the story was strong and that it was so relatable. Each character probably represents someone in one's family, and it included sibling rivalry, love triangles, middle child syndrome, favoritism, and black sheeps. Overall, the family drama-comedy Four Sisters and a Wedding did the studio proud. It was both heartbreaking and endearing, cleverly conceived and performed, and this is largely attributable to how well the entire team worked together, from production to the cast. Bring a hanky when you watch this movie, is my one bit of advice. You will undoubtedly feel this in your core and grow to value your family even more as a result. — Alorro, Gerome A.

The movie Cinderella is one that you really must see whether you want to spend time with your family or have a movie night. Camila Cabello, a singer-songwriter, played the title role in the updated version of Cinderella, which also included a different, diversified setting from the original movie. This updated Cinderella presents the characteristics of a modern, varied society. As we described Cinderella, she portrayed the part where she prioritized her work over finding a prince, and her fairy godmother—who was supposed to be a woman—turned out to be Gay and black, which is excellent because it celebrates diversity and equality. The bond between the parents and their child is also a major theme of the novel. In the epilogue, the stepmother of the new Cinderella urged her to follow her passion for dressmaking and strive to be the finest dressmaker she can be, unlike the evil problematic one. — Vasquez, Regine

Seven Sundays
Seven Sundays tackles family troubles and the place where four siblings will reunite to fulfill their dying father's wish. Here revolves around how they get along as a ko family around the story of the film. The factor of the film is beyond sickness; it focuses more on their relationship with each other, and their personal struggles in life. The movie is entertaining and easily likable, quite remarkable. It is the movie's disarming earnestness that is actually admirable. The lesson of this movie is how to build your relationship with a family even if you don't get along at first; like you really need to be humble with everyone because not all the time you are right. If I am to be asked, the message of this movie is that our family will always be there for us; and this will allow you to appreciate everything and the people around you even better. — Bosiyo, Jacel Ann

The good movie that I would really like to recommend for every family is “Encanto”. This is a Disney movie which has a wonderful world that tells the story of an exceptional family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a magical house in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. It encourages you to face the truth. In that, I think most of us would relate to the “Family Madrigal” because it is basically our childhood. It shows the value of sustaining the appearance of perfection, as well as it demonstrates the consequence of pushing yourself beyond your limit. It shows how exclusion is the usual reaction to anyone who challenges the current system, particularly when that current system is maintained by an elderly person in power. Encanto aims to teach some very valuable lessons. You never know what someone is feeling on the inside. Many people have been fighting their own battles, especially those closest to us. Because it is not always visible, many people suffer in silence. Encanto combines the important life lessons with plenty of laughs and exciting music; now that for me, is one of the reasons why every family must watch this. — Medina, Hazel

Kita-kita
One of the best Filipino movies of 2017 is Kita-Kita (I See You), which you may watch until now with your loved ones. This film features a compelling plot that evokes both happiness and sadness. The story of two Filipinos who met in Japan is told in Kita Kita. However, Tonyo was Lea's neighbor and she had unintentionally become temporarily blind. She initially refused to accept Tonyo as his friend but eventually gave up. It depicts what true love is and how difficult life is on one's own. Love permeates a person's entire being, not simply their appearance. As a Filipino, you may relate with their personality and learn a valuable lesson on how to deal with both happy and bad times. We can also learn from this the value of sincere and pure love, the kind that is strong even when it is not really seen. —Tagupa, April Ann

Pan de Salawal is a story that makes use of magical realism to highlight the issue of the nation's inadequate healthcare system. It provides a clear plot with seamless cinematic elements to both amuse and inform the audience. The story takes place in a town where nearly every person has a medical problem. It was only until a little girl named Aguy (ouch in Bisaya) mysteriously treats them by inflicting the pain, their illnesses and impairments are accompanied by unmet expectations and unfulfilled goals. Sal, a pandesal baker who appeared to be the only person whom Aguy could not heal, and Aguy formed an unexpected bond. Aguy came to the realization that the only thing she could do to heal him would also be the most painful thing for her. The lesson of the story can pass for a Wansapanataym anthology episode. The movie enhances the lesson that we need to endure suffering in order to enjoy life's pleasures with its timeless, family-friendly: and morally upright basis. That is life; because pain and suffering are only temporary, hope should be constant in everyone's life. — Luayon, Shella

When it comes to selecting family movies, Coco is one of the top-tier options that anyone can watch and most possibly relate with. It is a 2017 Disney Pixar film that is set at Santa Cecilia, a Mexican village that is perceived parallel to their believed Land of the Dead. The story revolved around Miguel, a twelve-year old boy who has a great passion for music, and his traditional family who had a grievous hatred towards this passion, hating it to the bone. Magical circumstances began to happen until he had suddenly become a soul, eligible to enter the fabled Land of the Dead during its very season. As he was trying to find his way back to the living world, little did he know that he had come upon a mission to fix his broken family both in the real and in the surreal world. With so much great music and inspiring quotes that we can learn from the characters' dialogues, Coco is indeed one of the best family movies to watch with your loved ones. It will teach you the importance of family, passion, support, love, and even the consequences of hatred. Most importantly, this has the potential to enlighten the viewers about family feuds, which are really relatable to most of us. — Delos Reyes, Mary Angeline C.

Brave is a very entertaining movie and plenty of life lessons that kids and adults can watch together. It tells the story of Merida, a young Scottish princess whose life is controlled by her mother so she can be shaped into a queen. She wants to change her fate and be free of her tyrannical but loving mother. In an attempt to change her future and, in doing it, she made a huge mistake that she regretted. Merida is a fantastic new character, and the entire film looks beautiful. I must say that, while it may not be among the best Pixar films, Brave provides an exciting and entertaining experience. I recommend this movie to all that love adventure and thrill. I also recommend this film if you've loved other Pixar films before it. — Carado, Jyreh Mark C.
Although family movie nights may turn into a battleground, this is one of the best ways to keep ourselves warm with one another. If you're unprepared, trying to choose a movie that will please the whole family can result in insults, eye rolls, tears, and a lot of slammed doors. But it doesn't have to be that way. You just need to know what to look for in order to find a photo that corresponds with every demonstration in your house. Additionally, as you'll see, a good "family movie" need not be "for the kids." Indeed, both new and old animated classics are readily available. Put one of these on and enjoy yourself, confident in knowing that your home will remain peaceful at least one more night. What's more of a bonding than spending quality time with your family anyway, right?
