The Painful Relationship of Humans and the Earth
“The Earth belongs to those who live, not to the dead," Thomas Jefferson used to denote. It is a place that humans are most capable of inhabiting and surviving. In this sense, the Earth is known to be the only habitable planet in the entire universe, estimated to be 50 million years old as of today. But every now and then, we'll be asking ourselves, "Will our planet completely deteriorate and die? Can we prolong the earth's life? Or the prophetic doomsday is coming? Have you noticed the difference in our environment between before and now?" These questions keep ringing in the ears after watching the news about the scientist who plotted the world-wide rally across the globe. The answers? We could never really know for sure.
The planet we live on is warming continuously year by year because of human activities and carbon emissions, resulting in big threats: global warming and climate change. From the previous few years, new obstacles and difficulties have emerged. Earth's climate is changing dramatically, with severe temperature extremes, heavy precipitation, and even ice glaciers melting on a regular basis. These environment-destructive acts such as overpopulation, pollution, overconsumption of plastics, burning of fossil fuels, oscillations in the earth's orbit are only some of the primary causes. Pollution is a serious worry in today's world, and everyone understands how dangerous it is to both humans and the environment. Losing the earth could be the end of humanity; we will be unable to feed ourselves owing to a lack of resources, and we will be unable to drink water due to pollution.
Now that the Earth is slowly downgrading, humans and other living things are heavily impacted by its enormous effects on biodiversity and environment. Climate change, global warming, different sorts of disasters and calamities, all come and go without giving us any warning. The sun could be too scorching on some days, yet too gentle on the others. The breeze on some seasons is too chilly, while total heat-pressure on the next ones. Some nights seem too comfortable to sleep in, but the other nights are not as much because of the uncomfortable heat. Because of all these, the number of environmental and other health problems increase, which has reached to an extent that some end up to extinction, endangeredness, and even death.
Experts claim that the concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere has increased by nearly 30%. The current global average temperature is 0.85°C higher than it was in the 19th century. Each of the past three decades has been warmer than the preceding decades since records began in 1850. Climate change not only causes extreme weather and dangerous health effects around the world, but it also poses a direct threat to human survival for many of the world's most vulnerable communities as a threat multiplier. To combat the many threats posed by climate change, the world's nations have agreed to limit global average temperature increases to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Everybody has the power to change our future, however, not everyone is helping to safeguard our planet from pollution; in fact, some are making it worse.
There are several various ways that we can publish to make the world better. The earth is our life, only here can we feel the satisfaction that we will not encounter in another world. We hold the true power to save not only the globe, but also our own lives. We have nothing to put in, no other means to let go of the remaining time in every moment. While it’s still early, let’s pay attention to the environment regardless if it’s what it used to give us full of leisure. Let’s act instantly while it’s not too late and there’s still time left. Not everything should be changed or improved because it will still destroy our wealth.
Plastics and hazardous chemicals affect our ecosystem in more ways than we can imagine. We should look for alternatives to these hazardous and dangerous things and switch to more environmentally friendly ones. Planting more trees, recycling, reusing, reducing pollution, and raising awareness through environmental programs are all ways to save the environment. By saving our environment, we are also saving ourselves. This truth must sink deep into our hearts, causing our inner man to act responsibly in order to save our environment. So, if we want to sustain the environment, we must be willing to put up our best efforts. It is the measurable effort over a long period of time that can help the environment fully recover. If we want to save the environment, we must stop abusing natural resources. To protect the earth, it is important to use these resources with caution.
Furthermore, We believe that the environment encompasses all that surrounds us; so, the natural resource that surrounds us on Earth is our environment. How can we contribute to environmental protection? Simple. Individually, we should be accountable and responsible. Respect for natural values and responsibilities. This begins with human concerns about environmental health. We have a right to life, and we have a right to a healthy environment. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle are three ways to help the environment. Simply put, reducing means producing less garbage. Reuse, on the other hand, saves the raw resources that would otherwise be utilized in its manufacture. Containers, plastic bags, magazines, and other items fall into this category. Lastly, recycling is essential because it reduces pollution.
Everyone should step forward to reduce pollution and prevent our planet from becoming a dangerous place to live. As time passes, the world changes rapidly. We can handle our lives with ease as humanity advances. In simplest words, all humans, as temporary inhabitants and caretakers of the earth, are obliged to make this Earth a place that is safe, comfortable, free, fulfilling, and much better. By this, it would be safe to leave a message, and we quote that the "Environment is no one's property to destroy, it's everyone’s responsibility to protect." We are collectively taking advantage of all its resources, so there must also be a collective response to its healing and recovery. Let us all give importance to the world we are living in, because we can never really be certain when it will set itself free.
